How many articles have you read about 2023’s social media trends? Have you been scrolling through to find an easy answer? Something manageable that you can commit to? Maybe you’re hoping reels are on their way out or that posting at a new magic time will result in more engagement..

The thing is, social media was never intended for us to “hack”. It was designed for us to build relationships and connect. I think sometimes we forget that part (I am guilty of this too).

So I’m writing to you from my leather recliner, iced coffee with a splash of almond milk sitting next to me, my baby boy sleeping (hopefully long enough for me to hit send) to help you keep it simple by sharing my NUMBER ONE social media trend prediction for 2023…

Here it is: BEING BOLDLY, UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU!

To be honest, this shouldn’t even be on a list of trends because it should always be a core part of how you’re showing up.

However, with TikTok and algorithm changes and reels and apps like Instagram being more crowded than ever before, I do truly see a shift to people prioritizing their personal brand.

Whether it’s putting yourself on camera to share that tip instead of a graphic, doing a good ol’ GRWM Instagram LIVE paired with an educational topic (something I definitely want to try this year), or a rebrand from a “business” name to your personal name (I’m seeing a handful of big podcasters do this right now).. it’s no secret that if you want to stand out, you have to be YOU.

Plain and simply, YOU. That doesn’t mean you need something super unique to talk about. You just need to be your exact self, the one that would sit down for a glass of wine with your best friend – that’s who Instagram (and everyone on it) wants you to be!

People are on these apps not only to be entertained but to feel seen. To feel like they can relate to the content they’re consuming. To connect with people they have something in common with.

The only way for you to be that person is to share the real human behind the for sale sign. Not just the before and afters (just listed to just sold) but the messy middle. The life outside of the transactions.

And when it comes to turning those followers into actual clients or people who refer you business?

They’re going to need to know who you are. It’s social media marketing 101 – know, like, trust. In order to trust you and refer you, they have to first know you and like you!

Here are 3 simple post (or reel) ideas that I love right now that will help you get the ball rolling on infusing you into your social strategy.

1 – GRWM (get ready with me) reel + a real estate tip: This could be making your coffee, doing your makeup, packing up your lunch, making breakfast, etc. You do the thing while you talk about real estate! Here’s an example


2 – Share a carousel post of life lately (a mix of work and biz): Scroll through your camera roll for recent photos of what you’ve been up to both behind the scenes of real estate and your life beyond real estate. Share them paired with a bullet point style caption that summarizes each one Here’s an example

3 – Document and share your word of the year: For example, my word of the year is “commit”.

So I might take clips that show things I’m committing to.. a clip of me writing down my goals in my planner, drinking lemon water every morning, moving my body daily, making the bed, sending this email, recording myself for my weekly reel, etc.

I can then take all of those clips and mash them together to create a reel and share my word of the year! Next level idea.. add a voiceover on top of the clips explaining why you chose your word of the year and what ACTIONS you’re taking to stick to it!

Here’s an example of a word of the year reel at the END of the year (but you can start now)!
