IDK about you, but I love staying in my comfort zone.

I mean it’s called the COMFORT zone for a reason, right? It’s cozy, familiar, and safe!

I love my comfort zone so much that I’ve even tricked myself into trying new things, mastering new skills, and meeting my goals without leaving my comfort zone. It’s one of those mindset shifts I’m most proud of myself for embracing, so I want to share it with you too!

Let me start by telling you a story.

Believe it or not, I wasn’t always an expert at showing up on video. Early in my career, I had no idea what I was doing when it came to video and I HATED even trying.

Anytime I sat down to record something – my heart raced, my hands would sweat, and I restarted the recording probably 20 times before slamming my laptop closed, and angrily calling it quits for the day.

To put it plainly – I was insecure, unsure, and had no idea how to get better.

But you know what I did? I practiced.

When I say that, I don’t mean I was going live publicly every day until I was a pro. What I DID do, was practice privately until I gained my confidence and had more savvy.

I would open up my camera app, practice my message, and I forced myself to re-watch those practice videos (no matter how cringy they were) to learn from myself, my body language, my tone, etc.

And you know what? This private practice is what helped flourish into the video master I am today!

All this to say, you don’t have to get out of your comfort zone to try something new. You can do it from the safety of your comfort zone until you’re ready to dip your toes out into the world, just like I did (thank goodness my first videos won’t ever see the light of day).

I mean think about it, you weren’t born knowing how to buy and sell real estate. That wasn’t always in your comfort zone, but it is now because you practiced, refined your craft, and kept learning until it was your expertise.

Same goes for whatever else it is you’re putting off because it seems intimidating, scary, feeling unsure of yourself, etc.

So, let me ask you a few questions.

What have you been putting on the back burner, simply because you’re scared, intimidated, feeling lost (all of the above)?

How can you chip away at it, while still in your comfort zone?

Is there something that you haven’t tried yet because it feels daunting?

Like engaging with new people? Putting yourself out there in your community? Or maybe you’re like the old me and video / creating reels is something that feels super scary to you right now.

It’s okay if you’re not ready to go all in on whatever it is you’re putting off right now, but don’t stop yourself from practicing from your comfort zone! Just try, and try again until it eventually becomes part of your comfort zone (aka your expertise).

You can still accomplish a lot from the safety of your comfort zone. The perfect way to take action from the safety of your comfort zone? Join my email list!
