We sat down to record this episode with zero notes.
Just our Instagram saved folders, a lot of opinions, and a shared belief that great content doesn’t come from copying someone else’s strategy. It comes from learning how to notice what makes content interesting – and then making it your own.
So that’s exactly what we did. We pulled up posts that stopped our scroll and broke down why they worked, from simple graphics and screenshots to hooks, series, and face-to-camera videos.
Here are some of our biggest takeaways.
Your Point of View Is Your Brand
You don’t need 100,000 followers or 20 years of real estate experience to create memorable content.
You need something to say.
The content that stood out to us wasn’t necessarily controversial. It simply had a clear point of view – a belief, observation, opinion, or little piece of personality that made the creator recognizable.
Ask yourself: If someone looked at my Instagram for two minutes, could they tell me anything about me besides the fact that I’m a real estate agent?
If not, it’s time to let more you into your content.
Figure Out What Your Thing Is
Not sure what your “thing” is?
Start with the people who know you best.
What do your friends text you? What do they send you because it “made them think of you”? Maybe it’s football, fashion, a certain restaurant, your love of old homes, or a particular phrase you always say.
Those little associations are clues.
Another exercise we love is romanticizing your life.
Walk through your day and pretend you’re documenting it for someone who would think, I want her life.
Suddenly, the crockpot dinner, the sunlight through your kitchen window, your dog’s ridiculous costume, or your favorite coffee shop become content.
The trick is simply paying attention.
Build a Series Instead of Introducing Yourself
You don’t need to constantly tell people who you are.
Show them.
We’ve been talking for a while about how the traditional “Hi, I’m your local realtor!” introduction post feels a little tired. And while there’s nothing wrong with having an introduction post, there are more interesting ways to let people get to know you.
Think about your favorite TV shows. You don’t meet the main character and immediately get their entire life story. You learn who they are as the story unfolds.
Your content can work the same way.
Instead of creating one post that tries to tell people everything about you, create a repeatable series that naturally reveals your personality, your expertise, your community, and your perspective over time.
The goal isn’t to introduce yourself once.
It’s to let people get to know you over and over again.
Small Visual Changes Can Make a Big Difference
You don’t need complicated transitions or hours of editing to make your content look good.
Find the good light in your house.
Use a car mount.
Film yourself getting into the car, setting down your coffee, walking through a room, or simply moving through a window of sunlight.
A little movement + good lighting + a strong hook can go a long way.
And when you see a visual trend you love, don’t feel like you have to completely change your brand to follow it. Borrow the idea – maybe it’s contrast, bold typography, or a pop of color – and make it yours.
The More You Notice, the Easier Content Gets
The biggest lesson here is simple – great content starts with paying attention.
Notice what makes you laugh, what your clients keep asking, what people associate with you, the businesses you love, and the little moments of your everyday life.
Because your life is already full of content. You just have to start noticing it.
And the more you practice, the easier content gets.
If you want to create content like this for your own brand, that’s exactly what we do inside Modern Agent Social Club. Come check it out!
